Abstracts of Current Research:- Real-time monitoring of patient in a cardiac intensive care unit using SPC methodologies: In recent years statistical process control (SPC) has shifted from periodic monitoring of industrial processes to monitoring in real-time. This shift has motivated development of new techniques that will take into account the statistical features that characterize real-time monitroing (like existence of auto-correlations). This research, conducted with Dr. Gilutz from the Soroka Hospital, attempts to accommodate these techniques to be used in monitoring patients in intensive care units. Hopefully, the research will lead to the development of new monitoring devices that will be able to alert the medical staff to changes in the patient`s vital signs earlier than can be presently detected.
