Selected by a committee headed by the Vice-President and Dean for Research and Development Prof. Moti Herskowitz, the Prize was created by the Toronto Chapter of the Canadian Associates of BGU to honour the 50 th anniversary of the State of Israel and has been awarded annually since 1998.
